Installing Emulade on Windows, macOS, or Linux

Grab the installer for your OS from the download page. Each build is compiled for that platform specifically, so there's no generic installer that works everywhere.

Windows

Run Emulade-Setup.exe and follow the prompts. On first launch, Windows may ask you to confirm that Windows Hypervisor Platform can be enabled. Allow it. This is the same permission Hyper-V and WSL2 already use, so if either of those work on your machine, this will too.

macOS

Open Emulade.dmg and drag Emulade into Applications. macOS Gatekeeper may show a warning the first time you open it since it's from outside the App Store. Right-click the app and choose Open to confirm you trust it.

Linux

Mark Emulade.AppImage as executable (chmod +x Emulade.AppImage) and run it directly. You'll need /dev/kvm available and your user in the kvm group. See system requirements and enabling virtualization if that's not set up yet.

First launch

The first time Emulade opens, it checks that hardware virtualization is actually available and walks you through turning it on if it isn't. Once that check passes, you're on the home screen and ready to install an APK.
